The CueCat is not entirely reliable. One has to be fairly careful with speed of scanning, going in a straight line, etc. I have often needed to run it two or three times across the bar code to make it work. And DVD bar codes are harder to scan than books. They are on glossy paper and often crammed r...

It would be nice if there was a decent option for this situation.

What one can do at present is the following.

Make two separate entries, one for each CD.

Link them together.

In addition, use a custom field to mark as part of a set.

I can't answer the question you ask. But there is a related thing you may also like to do.

It is possible (see the help pages) to link items together, so that each has a reference to the others.

I would guess you would find this useful.

Great review and comparison.

You CAN take a text file of ISBNs (one per line) and import it, though, which was one of the things you said cannot be done.

I forget the details, but I have done it. I guess Conor or Nora will explain what is needed, it's fairly simple.

Home and End keys

When one presses the Home or End keys, the view moves to the beginning or end of the collection, as it should. But it also selects the first or last item in the list. I find that I don't usually want to do this. I just want to view the first or last bunch of items as part of a navigation process. Co...

Are you sure this is the best way for you to go?

Myself, I would put everything in the main library, and use smart collections to separate out the special items.

You could use one of the custom fields to mark each item as SD or HD.

And then use smart folders to group all your HD items into one folder and all your SD ones into another

Yes, better drawer selection as you suggest would be very useful.

I think you can do it by double-clicking the field in the main view. If I am wrong, you can certainly do it via the Add/Edit button. If you select a number of items, then using the Edit item allows batch editing. And don't forget that you can have custom fields. I would expect your Dewey-type classi...

My recollection (could be wrong) is that imported collections are by default not added to the main library.

There is an "include collection in library" item under the file menu.

You still keep your collections after doing this.

Conor, if you put the plugin as suggested, won't it get deleted on an update?

You sent me a revised plugin once, and told me to put it in a Plugins folder inside my database folder, which avoids this.

You can certainly create a wish list the way Bruce suggests. But, from my memory, it behaves very slightly differently from the original wish list (just a matter of missing an icon or something small). I had used the original wish list for books published in the UK, and created a second one as a spe...

Thank you for the quick reply. Going systematically through all the menus, finally I found in the 'IMDB Options' the download credits area that contains the Cinematographer. It works again now! ... and congratulations for a very nice program! EDIT: As a personal preference, I would like to be able ...

Depends what you mean by "quality".

CueCat is dirt cheap on eBay, and reasonably effective.
I am sure there are better and more expensive scanners around.
