Author names

Why cannot capital letters be used in author names? O'brian, rather than O'Brian, seems odd.

Sure, you can use capital letters in any of the multi-value fields. Check in your Autofill list that you don't have the name saved as "o'brien" there, which would replace it for you automatically then. You can edit the autofill lists in the Preferences/Autofill. Select 'Author' from the drop down menu.
