Re: Online soundtrack databases

Yes it is partially useful, especially for actual CD/LP releases. IMDB is more complete however, but still limited. Let me give you an example... trying to find the composer Camille Saint-Saëns on both sites: Soundtrackcollector lists 3 soundtracks IMDB lists 83. Yet neither list that Saint-Saëns' '...

Re: Online soundtrack databases

Thanks Keith, not wishing to sound too ungrateful, but... Aside from a hideously busy looking interface, this too isn't very useful. Note, they claim they have: 45968 Titles ... 24136 Track Listings How can they have fewer track listings than films? Makes no sense. Unless it's under-populated, which...

Online soundtrack databases

Bit of shot in the dark, but might anyone know of a good online soundtrack database for music used in films? Either pre-existing music or especially scored - I'd be interested in both.

IMDB's facility is poor in this respect.

Re: imdb rating without votes

Thanks guys! I used to be blissfully ignorant about imdb ratings - since why should I care what others think of a film in MY collection, right? Well, as a consequence of your posts I've got intrigued by this data... Could this mean I wish to register my my opinion on imdb? Life's too short for inter...

Re: Alternative to Amazon

Another thought:

http://www.discogs.com

has an international CD/vinyl collector user base. Though I'm not sure about the technical compatibility, it's also very detailed, maybe overly so (eg pre-cd releases will be tracklisted a1,a2,a3..b1,b2,b3.. etc)

Thumbs up for Play.com

For UK (especially hard to find) DVDs I use:

http://www.moviemail-online.co.uk/

CDs - http://www.boomkat.com

For Germany try:
http://www.zweitausendeins.de//

very comprehensive selection of cd/books/dvds

Good luck

Re: CDPedia: duplicating listings and capacity

Since I asked, I'll start rolling the ball. Capacity so far: CDpedia - 1955 titles (2161 discs) - at least 6-700 to add, more if I decide to add singles DVDpedia - 1663 titles - a similar no. to add Bookpedia - havn't really started to add. Some 50 or so titles entered as I lent them. (all returned ...

Re: CDPedia: duplicating listings and capacity

I too prefer individual listings for unique items such as shorts on a compilation DVD or individual films in a box set. I duplicate and edit 'pedia entries all the time. However, I too am curious about capacity. Who has the largest functional 'pedia? How many entries exist in Conor's betas? BTW: My ...

Re: Conor, Nora - Will there ever be true Box Set support?

Please do place this higher on the priority list. I cannot face the prospect of manually entering 7 seasons of Buffy , or e.g. the complete collection of Norman McLaren shorts, &c... You have a great product, but some of us genuinely need the specific data about an episode or short animation, no...

Seconded - I use alt/apple/R all the time in cdpedia. I'm rediscovering lost gems all the time.

Re: DVDtopia: 1. Internet Archive 2. TCM database, trailers

Thanks for the tips - I'd used Archive.org before, but had never considered it for streaming out of copyright feature films.

Another database I use all the time for info: allmovie. I find it's layout easier to scan than imdb. I also use its sister site allmusic, for cd/vinyl information.

Re: Searching Starring + adding short films

Hey Coner, your expedition is admirable! Re: Year searches (eg 1960). I think I've cracked it. It seems that if only enter a year into the search box with 'all fields' checked responses are variable, UNLESS after I've put the year I click once again on 'all fields'. Then I do find what I what I'm lo...

Re: Searching Starring + adding short films

Thanks for your prompt reply! That 'search all' certainly finds actors now. However, if I try to search for a theatrical release year it finds all the ones I've entered manually and none of those entered automatically. So I'm still puzzled. One of the reasons I like your software is its flexiblity, ...

Searching Starring + adding short films

Hi, I'm testing DVDpedia with a view to buy. So far I like it very much - it's pretty comprehensive. But I've found a glitch. When I add actors in edit mode, they do not appear in the 'starring' field in list view (and thus do not appear in searches) even though they appear in the info box. Does thi...
