Re: DVDpedia not working

For anyone too lazy to install the beta: if you first search via Safari on IMDB itself, say for The Square, then copy the part of the web address for the particular movie - tt4995790 and paste it/search for it on DVDPedia - it will work.

Re: Option to use VLC instead of Apple's DVD Player in DVDpe

Did that
I'll get access to a few more computers with 10.12.3 and give it a try there as well.
get tried?

And does one need to do anything other than enter in Terminal:
defaults write com.bruji.dvdpedia "VLC for VIDEO_TS" -bool YES

and then try to run it from DVDPedia as usual?

IMDB listing of Schizopolis not loading cast/director etc.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117561/combined I wonder if it because every single cast, etc. listing has a label of (uncredited). None the less strange, as certainly everything else is working fine from IMDB, so unless I'm missing something, I'd say it needs to be fixed from DVDPedia. And yes, I am s...

Different Players depending on format?

One of DVDPedia's best features is the ability to play linked VIDEO_TS and .dvdmedia files using Apple's DVD Player. However, as media formats change, we need more flexibility. Typically I rip my Blu-rays to .mkv files (using MakeMKV) and play them back via VLC. .mp4 files can be played back by Quic...

Re: dvdpedia to apple tv

I am puzzled at how long it is taking Apple to open up iOS on the AppleTV for third party apps -- it is such an obvious win, and there is all sorts of wild stuff third party developers will end up doing, pushing the AppleTV out of the "hobby product" corner into the mainstream. That said, ...

Re: eBooks

I spent a lot of time fixing metadata and cover art in Calibre, imported the stuff to iTunes only to find that it is all still broken the way it was before I started fixing it in Calibre -- clearly something isn't making it to the .epub files which Calibre spits out. But, to get to the point: Calibr...

Re: Ports to non-Apple platforms?

Bad new.... I switched to Android and I will never have my collection in my smartphone. Maybe you could consider that android has the 70% of the worlds market (and growing...) You might want to read my post above yours -- as to Android having 70% of the world's market -- that's out and out false: O...

Re: Odd IMDB plug behavior

Yes, I'm having a similar mess -- see:

Actor names being treated as character names, etc.

Downloading the Beta now.

Edit: OK, Beta appears to have fixed it.

Re: Ports to non-Apple platforms?

I really find it curious that people are so willing to consider Android given that so many great programs (like PocketPedia) are iOS only, and so many others are so much better on iOS. Look at something like the official Twitter app, particularly on the iPad: in order to make the Android version &qu...

Re: PocketPedia3

I would love to be able to play movies linked to DVDPedia from PocketPedia! Thanks for all your work! D Not sure if you mean streaming movies to the iOS device, or using PocketPedia as a remote for DVDPedia to play movies on your Mac. If it is the second, I would strongly support it -- yes there ar...

Re: PocketPedia3

@slm04747: That's what version 3.0.3 of Pocketpedia lets you do. You can scan entries for searches in Doghouse or send them directly to your Pedia program on the Desktop to search other sites and add entries directly to your database. (If you're not connected to the same network as your Pedia progr...

For anyone doing this in DVDPedia 5 you need to change the name of the db file in the sqlite script from Database.pediadata to Database.dvdpd

Re: Lion and Front Row

I just tried XBMC for EyeTV playback last night and it looks extremely promising, and setup was very quick and painless. And actually there is hope for Front Row in Lion, as well -this seems to work fine with Lion/iTunes 10.4: (have not tested it beyond iTunes content -- don't know how it interacts ...

Re: Lion and Front Row

So now that Lion is out, and Front Row is dead (even in Snow Leopard, where iTunes 10.4 broke Front Row compatibility, you can no longer see the iTunes library in FR) we should be considering the alternatives rather than trying to keep a dead program on life support. It seems that Plex is the most p...

Re: Lion and Front Row

But I'm guessing that Plex whatever its other faults also doesn't play DRMed iTunes TV shows/movies etc. which Front Row does? And now our only alternative will be to play them directly through iTunes in full screen mode? At least I hope Apple didn't kill the Apple DVD Player. Can anyone confirm it ...
