Bookpedia 4.6.0 - MacBook Air iSight doesn't work anymore

Hi,

after just updating to 4.6.0 I cannot activate the built-in iSight for acquiring new books anymore. When I click on the "iSight" button in the acquisition dialog, the window "built-in iSight" opens, the green light near the iSight goes on, but - except a red square - the iSight windows stays completely black.

The iSight works fine in PhotoBooth. I use an MacBook Air (early 2009) and OS X 10.6.3. In the previous version of Bookpedia (4.5.5) everything worked fine. I use the German localized version of BookPedia.

Please help, as I regularly use Bookpedia.

Thank you for the report. Could you please download Bookpedia beta 26 and run the iSight once, if it's still not showing any video could you please send us the message from your console log. You can read the console log with the program of the same name in your utilities folder, newer messages are towards the bottom.

Using the beta26 the iSight works (although I never noticed before that the picture was mirror-inverted as it is now - or has it always been like that ?).

Nevertheless, here's the last line from the console log:

An update: I just updated DVDpedia too, from 4.5.5 to 4.6.0 and iSight works fine under DVDpedia 4.6.0.

Thank you for the details. Glad to hear about the beta. If you have any difficulties on the Mac Book Air download the latest beta 27 that has an tweaked version that should avoid the issue a few users were experiencing.

I had the same problem with Bookpedia 4.6.0, but Beta 27 solves it (Macbook Pro 2,1 - late 2006). Nice work

Downloaded Beta 27, iSight show image but the read rectangle does not appear anymore. However, based on the location of the red-rectangle for 4.6.0, showing the bar-code at that spot will result in recognition.

Anyway, my i7 MBP will be arriving this week

Congratulations, we recently bought an i5 15 inch to keep up with the Apple computers and are really enjoying it. The iSight Pedia scanning also works extremely well on these computers. We would love to know how it fares on the i7, do let us know.
