Amazon.com and .fr issues

Post by cortig »

Hi All,

DVDPedia used to be pretty good at finding my titles on Amazon.com and .fr but for some reason, most of the results I get now are completely off.
I performed a search for Immortals on Amazon.com for instance and another one for Ces amours là on Amazon.fr and in both cases, I simply could not find the corresponding results.
The same searches on the respective Web sites give the right movie as the first result in the list.
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_ ... =Immortals
http://www.amazon.fr/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2 ... +amours+là

Not sure why it started to do that but since it wasn't the case before, I thought it was worth reporting here.

With Amazon you should always make sure you select 'Title' as the limiter, especially in cases like the two examples you gave where the titles are short and contain very common words. (If you don't set the limiter to Title then the search goes through all sorts of fields in Amazon, including the summary.) To make the limiters appear, click on the little magnifying glass in the search field and choose the Amazon site you want to search.

Well, I always restrict the search to titles.
Interestingly enough though, I re-tried the search just now and the right movies pop-up immediately.
It looks lik Amazon is having temporary glitches (again :-\ ).
