FancyIndex sorting on last name

Post by gillesenvrac »

In the administrative interface the sorting on author is OK, by last name even if the first name is showed first. But on the web, when exported with FancyIndex, the sorting is on the first name... Is it easy to correct ?

Thank you for the bug report. The web relies on the sorting of the browser and hence is basic. We use our own fancy algorithm to figure out the last name, developed over years of improving Bookpedia (don't even get me started on things like "Jr."). I'll take a look and see if there is away to bring some of that over to the web and use it there for sorting. Although it's likely to prove complex as Bookpedia right now does not have an option to export a flag, to let the web know that the sorting should even be last name and not first.

Thanks Conor,

Have you find a way to correct this “sorting on first name” thing ?
