Way for importing a large collection from a list

Post by hoka »

I have a rather large collection of ripped dvd's on a HD and wanted to get this into dvdpedia.

Here is the trick: Do a search with file buddy (for .avi files in my case) export the list you get as plain text. (make sure that in file-buddy prefferences you sellect exporting as POSIX paths!

Import the text file in dvdpedia and all the links are intact!

Select the lot and do an advanced info update and you're done!

Thank you for sharing that method, I think several users use a variation of it, also sometimes stripping the title name from the path as a separate field for the title field.

What would be great is if there was a way that DVDPedia could manage a list in a directory.

IE you could create a directory (MyMovies) and DVDPedia would automatically check upon launch each time.

Bring is filename from sub folder (below my movies) for new items
Bring is filename path for sub/sub video_ts folder for new items.
If previously linked, flag if no longer in dir, no metadata added, or new file.

Would simply adding and maintaining video_ts collections.

Just a thought.

=)
