Sequential Numbering

Post by Howard »

Hopefully simple questions: How do I add a column that just numbers my books sequentially? Short of doing this, how does one find out how many items in collection without manually counting? Thanks

If you go in any collection, you can see the total number of items in the collection, how many are borrowed, how many are wanted, and what their total value is. It's at the very bottom of the window.

You can also turn on the 'Show Count' under the File menu to see the count for each collection right next to it.

To number your books sequentially, use the 'Incremental Collection ID' command found under the Edit menu. Just select all entries, choose 'Incremental Collection ID', enter 1 into the window that appears and then press the 'Apply to Selection' button to apply the sequential numbers to your entries. Then you can select the Collection ID column to display in your table view (View menu > View Options > Collection ID). (Unfortunately this is not a perfect solution since the sequential numbering will break as soon as you sort your collection by another column than the one you had originally selected.)
