DVDpedia: Ignore foreign articles doesn't work with "Les"

Post by Lodovico »

In DVDpedia 4.4.3, the option to ignore foreign articles during title sort recognises and correctly ignores the French definite articles Le, La and L', but does not recognise Les. So "Les Visiteurs du soir" ends up incorrectly sorted among the Ls instead of the Vs.

Also, in France the indefinite article Un or Une is always considered part of the title and should never be ignored in sorting. So "Un carnet de bal" should be sorted with the Us not the Cs. At present, there is no way to get DVDpedia to handle both definite and indefinite articles correctly.

Thank you for the bug report. You can download the beta version and "Les" will be ignored. Thank you for the tip on the French indefinite article but it picks them up from Spanish. Use the sort title column, that can be turned on in the preferences under fields, to set the sort title for those exceptions. It's also useful with numbers if you want to sort "21" under the letter "V" instead.

Thank you. "Sort title" is a very useful feature that I hadn't previously noticed. I'm learning more about DVDpedia all the time!
