Is there still development on the Pedias, or are they dead?

Post by ScottH »

Back in July I expressed concern on the "Keep the Pedias alive" post in the PediaTalk forum about how long it's been since the last update. It's now been 11 months. FineWine, I know you've answered a few posts here and there in the past year but there's been no talk of updates or new features or releases. I'm sure I'm not the only one with a heavy investment in time and energy, and a heavy reliance, on my Pedia libraries.

CAN WE PLEASE GET AN UPDATE ABOUT ONGOING OR FUTURE DEVELOPMENT? There's a blog on this site that's been abandoned for 3 years now. And 11 months is an ETERNITY in Mac program development time. I know Conor is basically a one-man team and has a young family, but I'm sure MANY of us would like to know if we've got a lot of time invested into software orphans now, so we can consider alternatives (as I said in that post, I'd be happy to pay for an upgrade to new Pedias if there is one coming). I sincerely hope the Pedias aren't zombie software, but the near-total silence on the forums and on the website as a whole is very discouraging--and frankly alarming.

Second that. I'd like to know what's going on with the Pedias, although I'm down to only DVDpedia these days anyway. Been using DVDpedia for decades and it'd be a shame if it's coming to the end of its lifetime.

Bump!

Loyal customer since like 2007 with heavy usage of Bookpedia and DVDpedia ( >4000 items each and counting :) ), could you share your time plan for next developments?

Thanks!!

Conor is busy coding for macOS Ventura as well as fixing all the little niggles that keep creeping in, particularly IMDb search as IMDb keeps updating/changing their API. There are also edge cases which some users are reporting that affect them only.

So hopefully soon there will be some minor update releases with a major update around the corner.

Cheers

Thanks for the update. Eagerly waiting for an update. Looks like IMDB search stopped working (again). I guess this happened after updating to macOS Ventura.

Hi,
hopefully these major improvements will also work on catalina (My computer won't go higher) as syncing to pocketpedia from DVDpedia is, for the time being, not working for me.
Kind regards.

IMDb search should be working again in the latest version. Do try the beta version as well.

Kind regards.
