Printing from DVDpedia

Post by dpoliteski »

Hi guys/girls,

One more question from a newbie DVDpedia user. When trying to print my collection, it prints first page a little messed up, but then prints out the rest of the pages blank.

Is there a secret to getting DVDpedia to print the collection properly, any issues with printing? Lastly, any template available that will print the collection like Delicious Library does, with little thumbnails of the titles with the title name in columns?

Thanks,
Dan.

Hi Dan,

If you could email us a PDF of the print out or a screenshot so that we can try to duplicate the problem. Also take a look at your console log and see if there are any errors from DVDpedia after you try to print (use the program of the same name in your utilities folder). We recently upgraded the printing so it could be a bug. We also have plans to bring back an improved version of the printing options we had before the upgrade that will be more what your looking for with the covers included.

In the meantime you can also use the export:template system for printing. it's very flexible and you can do a lot with it. For example here is a template with the three columns (The reading flows left to right by row instead of by column). Download the template unzip it and drop it in your home folder ~/Library/Application Support/DVDpedia/Templates. In DVDpedia select export choose templates and select SmallCoverPrinting. When printing from Safari in the print dialogue box choose the Safari options and don't print the headers and footers with the URL and page numbers.

This is just how I would use it. There is enough space to add another attribute for each movie say release year; make the covers or font larger or smaller or group them in different ways. At the top of the template the settings are to print all the movies in one page.

Code: Select all

<meta name="PageSplit" content="99999" />
You can change that it to SortName to print categories together. Say sorted by genre or studio, release year, borrower...

Code: Select all

<meta name="PageSplit" content="SortName" />
You will have to open all the separated sections in Safari and print each one.
