[DVDPedia]Collectorz Import

Post by racerx1 »

As a long-time Windows user I have just switched to a Mac. With that caviat, I have successfully imported my DVD collection from Collectorz (using text export) to DVDPedia except for the "Links" field. Is it possible to import links into DVDPedia?

Secondly, I noticed when I update the "Advanced Info" for a DVD from a web-site it doesn't enter the url in the Links field(s). Should it? If not, could this be a feature request?

Lastly, since I do have the IMDB number for all of my DVDs, is there any way to automatically convert this into a url (i.e., http://www.imdb.com/title/tt#######) and enter into the Links field?

Thank you.

1) I have updated the Pedias to be able to import links during text imports, that the links have the correct format is left up to the user: file:///Users/... or http://www.google.com/ (More than one link can be imported). Download the program again from this link

2) I wrote it down as a feature request.

3) I haven't linked the IMDB number in the "Collection" info view to IMDB. But you can accomplish this by modifying the info view templates. (There are several that have this link on our extras page. For example to modify the collection style open the package for DVDpedia.app with right click and navigate to Contents/Resources/WebViewFiles/en/collections.html; open this file with a text editor and where it says [Key:IMDB] change to [Key:IMDB] turning it into a link. You will want to copy this file to your data folder to avoid replacing it with an update of the program; the file goes in ~/Library/Application Support/DVDpedia/InfoTemplates (if you haven't installed any templates from the extras page you will have to create the folder, and also an "images" folder inside with the images from Contents/Resources/WebViewFiles/images ).

Conor,

The linked file worked like a charm -- now that is Class A support! :D

I haven't tried editing the templates yet (although I did create my own pc template for Movie Collector) as I am still learning my way through OS X.

Your help is very much appreciated - Thank you!
