Getting cover art ... LINKS

Post by sitenoise »

When I'm browsing in Cover View and I notice that a cover is small or lo-res and I want to get something better, I just click one of these links I have put into my Info View Template (based on Matt's wonderful design). Oh, and thanks to Conor I don't try and put them into custom fields! :D

Code: Select all

<a href="http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=[key:title]%20site:www.impawards.com">Imp Awards</a><br>
<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt[key:imdb]/posters">IMDb Poster</a><br>
<a href="http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&client=googlet&q=[key:title]">Google Images</a><br>
I have found IMPawards to have the nicest, highest res (if available) posters with an unobtrusive, quick and clean web site. No popups or silly crud.

I find both the Movie Poster database (movieposterdb.com) and Trailer Fan (trailerfan.com) to be slow and ugly without any payoff in the end.

How do you go about getting good cover art?

Just copy the code and paste it into your Info View Template.

See:
http://www.bruji.com/howto/infoView.html and others at http://bruji.com/support.php

you just have to decide where.

Post again if you haven't Info View Tweaked before and need additional help. Let me know what Info View Style you're using.

Thx ual. Never done info view tweaking before. I'm using TigerColumn. I was able to do it in NeoOffice and save it but poorly I might add. :) But textedit wouldn't allow me to save without changing to rtfd format even thought the info in the link you provided said any text editor. :)

Yeah, I don't get TextEdit, never been able to figure out that demand or why it opens html docs WYSIWYGaly.

I use Tex-Edit Plus http://www.tex-edit.com/ for text issues, lots of nice tools for cleaning up text. (though i use Dreamweaver for html :)

oh no ,are you kidding ? neooffice as text editor for HTML pages .... no way.
I really would advise you to use another one? neooffice is not suited to use it that way.
I use smultron , a very nice editor, with lots of great features.... oh yeah and its free:)

Hehe, I don't do any web creation/design so never bothered with an html editor. Textedit didn't work so I tried NeoOffice in html view. :) I figured textedit would do like notepad did on windows but guess not for this edit job. I'll give those a try, thanks.

Got it done using Smultron. Took a few tries to figure out were to put it but got it. Thanks all. :)

Edit: I just tried in NeoOffice again putting them on the same line I did in Smultron and it works the same. I was putting them in the wrong place before in NeoOffice just like I did wrong in Smultron the first couple time. ;)

Smultron has syntax coloring. so its easier to work. it has also an preview mode where you can see whats has changed.
I used neooffice only for writing big documents. But even there I prefer Pages or Latex.

I still use DVD Profiler and as such it uses hires cover art. I just copy the images from there and then drag them into DVDE Pedia.
