Most (but not all) imported book titles need quite a bit of capitalization cleansing - is there any way to address this during import, or automate it afterward?

There is a plugin that has a number of clean up functions including one for adding capitalization based on english rules. You can find it here. For Bookpedia download it and then change the ending to .pediaextra_b, change the last letter to B. After double clicking to install and restarting Bookpedia you will find the menu command under "Book -> Plugin -> Title Case".
