I've had this issue for quite a while, and while it seemed to disappear for a few releases, it is currently back again and causing some headaches for me.

Using Amazon US only [i sell on there, so i don't use any other source when scanning books into Bookpedia, as I use the app as my inventory app], I scan a DK travel book with a barcode that has this ISBN13: 9781465412065, which, when translated to ISBN10, comes out to this ASIN: 1465412069.

Both are correct, however, somehow when I scan the item, the URL field is generated with the wrong ASIN. In this case, the URL field has: https://www.amazon.com/DK-Eyewitness-Tr ... 1465459839

This means that when I use option-cmd-A shortcut to open the Amazon record to check sales rank and current used prices, I end up opening the wrong book.

I am unsure what triggers this, as it doesn't happen with every book, but it does seem to happen quite frequently. I am using beta111 on 10.13.6

Thanks for the exact details. In this case Amazon list the other version as the preferred URL. I assume cause it's the newer book and the one they want to sell. I have added a check to see that the ISBN matches and if not replace with the original search string, in the latest beta.

I have not found a good reason for why the URL changes - often it is just the paperback version of the hardcover I enter [or hardcover version of the paperback i enter, or sometimes the MP3 audio book version of a paperback that i enter; the kindle issue that used to be a problem, you got rid of a while ago, and that seemed like something Amazon was really pushing to sell kindle versions of the books].

While this bug seems to have been squashed when I enter books via the barcode, I did come across an edge case just now. I have an old book with an ASIN only and had to type it in:

B00O3HE9SA

When entering it into Bookpedia, the URL field filled in with the 2018 copy:

Using beta 112.

Another hand typed ASIN: B000VJNJYE
and that resulted in this URL:

One more I came across that I did scan with a barcode and not hand type. Even after removing the incorrect info and using the cog wheel to fetch info about ASIN 0465009131, the URL field still pointed to the Kindle version:

I have a different path for direct hits based on ASIN. I forgot to change that. Now in beta 122, it will create a URL based on the ASIN for a direct hit:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O3HE9SA
