CDPedia not recognizing CD drive (iTunes?)

Hi Team,
When I try to scan my disk drive, I get an error window saying "There is no CD information available in iTunes, make sure a CD has been inserted." But there definitely IS a CD in the drive, and iTunes has its information. I've scanned the drive many times before today without a problem.
Possibly relevant information: All of my itunes info is located on an external drive. I recently started using that drive (and CDPedia) on a new computer, which upgraded my itunes to v 12.9.2.5. The old machine was running 12.8.1.
Thoughts?
