Bookpedia 6.0.1 Beta 154

Just installed the latest above beta and now the cover image is not being included in search results from amazon.

This seems peculiar only to Kindle books. Even if the book is Kindle and other formats or just Kindle.

Hi,
I'm having the same problem; virtually none of my searches include the cover image. (My Amazon searches seem to default to the Kindle version—I don't know if there's some setting that prefers Kindle—and often don't return the paperback/hardcover version, so I don't know if covers appear for the other types of book.)

I'm running Bookpedia 6.0.1/Beta 154 on a MacBook Pro with Catalina 10.15.4.

Conor is aware of this cover image capture problem with the USA site. It may also have spread to other amazon countries as well.

Thank you for bringing it to my attention. Been over whelmed with the kids at home during the lockdown, but it's fixed in the beta version. Will be an official update in a few days.

I am using 6.0.1 and the cover do no longer download from amazon web sites.

Any ideas?

BTW is it necessary to fill the Amazon Web Services settings?

Thank you for the report. Fixed in the beta version. You can use your own credentials or use the "Amazon Test" under the Help menu with the option key.

Last April, I was able to get the covers of my French books, but not anymore now. I found this topic and choose "Amazon Test" and, after having scanned the ISBN and got the details of the book, I've been able to retrieve the cover.

I'm having the same problem I had a couple of years ago, where almost none of my searches return a cover image. I'm running Bookpedia 6.2.1/Beta 225.

Hi. Using same Bookpedia version as you and tested all good this morning.

Can you please provide a couple of Amazon ASIN numbers with titles.

Here are a couple of examples where no cover image was included on either title or ISBN search (though both work if I search by ASIN). Since I usually have the book in front of me, my searches are almost always by title or ISBN.

The Long Corner

It's hit or miss, though. A search for Piranesi (ASIN B0865TSTWM/ISBN 9781635575637) worked whether I searched by title, ASIN for the ebook, or ISBN.

It appears the ASIN is providing the image but that is for Kindle and the ISBN is not providing the image.

If you search within the amazon website (via browser) the ISBN works.

Most eBooks, such as Kinkdle & iBooks, do not have an ISBN as it costs the authors/publishers and under international agreement is not needed for digital material.

Anyway - It appears Bookpedia might be ?? prioritising ASIN, Kindle, over ISBN.

Though, I must admit, after further research, this problem is very hit and miss, for me anyway. More often than not, I do acquire the image.
Also if the book is old enough it maybe have been republished several times using different ISBN's and different cover images as well as being Hardcover or Softcover. I am finding some of my old ISBN's do not register with amazon as they now have new ISBN's.

Thank you so much for letting me know and all the details. it has been hard to track down the bug, it was an issue with the server that is supposed to make the content load fast by caching it all over the world. But some geographical areas where not working and hence getting no cover, but yes the info that comes directly form Doghouse. The covers should now slowly start appearing for those who where missing it, as the info updates around the world and starts caching again as the new information is pushed out, might take up to 8 hours. Let me know if you are still getting missing covers in a day.
