5.0 is out!

It’s really happening – version 5 is out! This update has been in the making for over a year and there are lots and lots of release notes to peruse for your pleasure: DVDpedia, Bookpedia, CDpedia and Gamepedia.

If you want to read about some of the highlights first, check them out on our Version 5 page.

Version 5 is a free update for all users who purchased the programs after October 1, 2010. Recently, we’ve heard from several professionals, including those who operate gambling sites not on GamStop, expressing how the new version’s enhanced security features have helped streamline their workflows. All other users are eligible for an update discount. To receive that, download the new version and try it out. When you’re ready to purchase the update, go into the program menu and select the “Register” command. In the window that appears, click on the ‘Upgrade’ button. That’ll take you to our store with your cart pre-filled and the update coupon applied. (This will also fill in your email address from our system automatically. If you don’t have access to that email address anymore, please let us know so we can update our database before you proceed.)
Update prices are as follows:

  • US$12 for one program
  • US$24 for two programs
  • US$29 for three programs
  • US$36 for the complete suite

If you’ve been thinking about switching to the Mac App Store then this is the perfect time to do it. All four programs are going to be on offer for just US$12.99 at the MAS for one week: DVDpedia, Bookpedia, CDpedia and Gamepedia.

(Celebratory launch prices are also going to be available in the regular Bruji store for all of this week so if you have a friend who’s interested in the Pedias, share the good news!)

  1. Just to clarify — if I buy the current App Store version of Bookpedia (4.6.8) right now, will that mean I get the 5.0 upgrade for free when it hits the store? Thanks!

  2. The programs are live and at version 5.0 in the US Mac App Store. (For other country stores, please be patient. It seems that some of the international stores take a little longer to update.)

You will receive version 5 for free even if you purchase the programs on the Mac App Store now but if you can wait until the store displays the new 5.0 version you’ll get a better price. 🙂

Sorry we didn’t check on the international stores before releasing this; we were too excited…

MAS price is listed at $12.99, not $12, with no bundling discount. Is this an error?

  4. Sorry, that was a typo on my part in the blog. The correct price on the MAS is $12.99. (We price our programs as competitively as possible but add .99 cents in the MAS since we loose an additional 22% for every app sold through there, as opposed to just 8% via our website.)

Unfortunately the MAS does not offer bundle discounts at this point.

  5. I was very disappointed with Ver 5 removing Amazon Support for data. I found the searches missing key info without it. I reinstalled the previous ver.

  6. Steve, Amazon search support hasn’t been removed in v5. It just requires some configuration now, as described here:

  7. And there’s this recent blog article:
