Pocketpedia2
All your media in your pocket
Forget pen and paper to remember books you want to buy or DVDs you'd like to rent. Use Pocketpedia2 on your iPhone or iPod touch to keep your media library right in your pocket. Sync your data from DVDpedia, Bookpedia, CDpedia and Gamepedia and hit the road.

Sync me up
Use the Pedia programs on your Mac to sync your media collections directly to your iPhone and iPod touch. Just run your Pedia programs and tap the 'Sync' button in Pocketpedia2. If you have more than one Pedia program running, Pocketpedia2 will prompt you to choose which one you'd like to sync. (Make sure your computer and your iPhone are connected to the same wireless network.)
The first sync will take longer, especially on large collections, because the program has to sync over all the cover images. Subsequent syncs will be much faster because the program only needs to sync the information that has been edited or added.
Preferences for sync and search
To speed up your first sync to Pocketpedia2 as well as save space on your iPhone, you can choose to sync only the small cover images. Go into your iPhone Settings/Pocketpedia2 and turn "Large Covers" OFF. Please note - when you tap the cover image button for an entry while you are on a wireless network, Pocketpedia2 will still download the large cover for the entry.By default Pocketpedia2 searches only the fields that are shown in the collection display, i.e. the entry's title and subtitle (depending on the Pedia synched this is either the director, author, artist or platform.) If you'd like Pocketpedia2 to search through all the fields, go into the iPhone Settings/Pocketpedia2 and turn "Search All Fields" ON.
On the road
Pocketpedia2 lets you move entries between collections, add new collections, assign star ratings, mark entries as borrowed or returned and even lets you delete entries. So you can be truly mobile with your Pedia collections on the go.
The details view
The menu bar lets you see additional information about an entry.
The organizing button appears on the details page about an entry and gives you the option to borrow, move or delete an entry. (If the entry is marked as borrowed already it will also include the option to return the entry. If it's an entry in your Wish List you will have the option 'Bought' which will move the entry out of your Wish List and into the Library.)
To delete an entry or a collection created in Pocketpedia2, swipe your finger across it and tap the Delete button. Alternatively, use the organizing button on the details view of an entry.
Assign your star rating to an entry by dragging your finger across the stars in the details view.
Sorting your entries
When you sync your databases from the Mac, Pocketpedia2 automatically takes over the sort order you have set in the Pedias. So if your Library is sorted by the Title column and your Wish List by Release, these sort orders will be kept in Pocketpedia2. At the bottom of each collection in Pocketpedia2 you will see what the collection is sorted by and how many entries it contains.
To sort a collection in Pocketpedia2 by title or subtitle (i.e. director, author, artist or platform), tap the action button at the top of the collection view and choose which field you'd like to sort by.
Tips and tricks
- To quickly get to the search field at the beginning of a collection, double-tap the status bar (at the very top of your screen).
- Even though the synching between your Mac and Pocketpedia2 works via wireless connection, keeping your iPhone plugged into your computer with the USB cable is a good idea because it prevents the device from shutting down to preserve battery and cutting off the synching. (Especially during the first sync, which takes longer.) The screen will still dim even with the device plugged in but synching will continue in the background.
- To do a 'clean' sync, i.e. sync over your entire database again including cover images instead of just updating it, hold down the Option key on your keyboard and press the Sync button in Pocketpedia2 at the same time.
- To choose an entry at random, for those times when you can't decide which movie to watch or what album to listen to, just shake your iPhone from side to side and let Pocketpedia2 choose for you.
Unfortunately Amazon has once again forced us to pull Pocketpedia from the App Store because they found the program to be in violation of their Associates Operating Agreement.

PLEASE NOTE
Because Amazon does not allow their data to be used on mobile devices, Pocketpedia2 cannot sync over data that has been added via Amazon. Affected entries will be noted as such in Pocketpedia2.
